Somatic Experiencing
Healing Trauma With Touch
Somatic Experiencing is a body based approach to psychotherapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine.
The intention is to guide the client along a journey of developing skills for tracking their nervous system, build internal resources to manage nervous system activation, renegotiate traumatic responses and release trapped survival energy.
As a bodyworker, I use touch to help clients attune to their nervous system, build a felt sense of grounded presence, co-regulate together, and support clients in rediscovering coherence, safety, and connection with their body.
With Somatic experiencing touch work, we titrate the experience, going with small bits at a time.
Working with explicit trauma memories or “content” is not necessary as the work is done with what is happening in the nervous system at the present moment.
We use titration, pendulation, and, most importantly, working together (co-regulation).
As I am finishing up my SE Practitioner training, I am offering sessions at a sliding scale of $30-$50
