Somatic Experiencing

Healing Trauma With Touch

Somatic Experiencing is a body based approach to psychotherapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine.

The intention is to guide the client along a journey of developing skills for tracking their nervous system, build internal resources to manage nervous system activation, renegotiate traumatic responses and release trapped survival energy.

As a bodyworker, I use touch to help clients attune to their nervous system, build a felt sense of grounded presence, co-regulate together, and support clients in rediscovering coherence, safety, and connection with their body.

  • With Somatic experiencing touch work, we titrate the experience, going with small bits at a time.

  • Working with explicit trauma memories or “content” is not necessary as the work is done with what is happening in the nervous system at the present moment.

  • We use titration, pendulation, and, most importantly, working together (co-regulation).

  • As I am finishing up my SE Practitioner training, I am offering sessions at a sliding scale of $30-$50
